StargazingTime ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website at stargazingtime.com(the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our Service.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Location data

With your permission, we read your device's approximate latitude and longitude via the browser Geolocation API. This is used solely to compute your local stargazing score and is not stored on our servers. If you decline, we fall back to an IP-based approximate location (city level), which is also discarded after the request.

1.2 Email (subscriptions only)

If you submit your email through the "Get notified" form, we store it together with your notification preferences in our database. We use it only to send the alerts you opted in to. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.

1.3 Usage analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic. This service sets cookies that may collect device, browser, language, and approximate location. We do not link this data to any personal identifier.

2. Advertising

We use Google AdSenseto display ads. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Third-party vendors' use of cookies is described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

3. Data sources we call on your behalf

• Open-Meteo — weather forecast (no personal data sent; only city coordinates).
• SunCalc — moon/twilight calculation, performed in memory (no external request).
• ip-api.com — approximate IP-based location fallback, used only when GPS is unavailable.
• Supabase — database hosting for weather cache and email subscriptions.

4. Cookies

We set a small number of cookies for theme preference and analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; the core Service still works without them.

5. Children

Our Service is not directed to anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

6. Data retention and rights

Subscription records are kept until you unsubscribe. To request deletion or a copy of your data, email privacy@stargazingtime.com. Under GDPR / CCPA, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page with the updated "Last updated" date.
